CD Projekt Red feels unfairly treated
Cyberpunk 2077 had one of the worst starts in recent years – the botched release of the RPG caused a real scandal. CD Projekt Red’s head of PR now claims that it wasn’t all that bad after all.

When Cyberpunk 2077 finally appeared on December 10, 2020 after a long wait, CD Projekt Red’s open-world RPG came out within a few days unprecedented fall from genre hopeful to absolute flop there. The release degenerated into an absolute disaster thanks to countless glitches and bugs. Now, Michal Platkow-Gilewski, the publisher’s VP of PR and Communications, comes out with a daring assessment – he thought the negative reactions were overdone.
Cyberpunk 2077: PR boss downplays criticism
In an interview with the Games Industry website, Platkow-Gilewski first admits that the relationship with the community was only cemented again after the release of Cyberpunk 2077 must become. He also admits that some fans were disappointed and that CD Projekt Red needed a sophisticated makeover.

However, Platkow-Gilewski obviously does not feel that the game was in an absolutely unplayable state at the time of release and as a product simply did not perform acceptably on most of the available hardware. Instead, in the interview, he claims that suddenly it was coolto pick on Cyberpunk 2077 and that it was better than the reactions suggested. (Source: games industry)
The insight that the RPG was hyped way too much at first and then published in a completely unfinished state by internal decisions appears to have not yet caught on with CD Projekt Red.
Phantom Liberty: New Cyberpunk 2077 DLC coming in September
After all, Cyberpunk 2077 has now received numerous updates and patches that at least make the RPG run better. In addition to the performance fixes, fans of the RPG can also look forward to the story DLC Phantom Liberty, the expected to be released on September 26, 2023 will – but not for the LastGen consoles.
CD Projekt Red isn’t the only publisher who has caused an uproar in the gaming community with dubious statements:
