Apple TV 4K 2022
The third-generation Apple TV 4K is available for the first time in two versions. The first model has 64GB of storage space and costs 169 euros. If you pay twenty euros more, you have an Apple TV 4K 2022 with Ethernet connection and twice as much storage (128GB). This makes the new Apple TV 4K a lot cheaper than its predecessor.
Bug: storage space halved
The double storage space with the Ethernet connection is absolutely worth the extra twenty euros. However, there is a problem with the 128GB version of the Apple TV 4K 2022, because a bug ensures that you can only use half of your storage space.
In practice, this means that you can only use the first 64GB of your Apple TV 4K due to the bug, but that you will then receive a message that your storage space is already full. As a result, you cannot use the remaining 64GB. This appears to be a bug in tvOS 16.1, which has not yet been resolved in the new beta version of tvOS 16.2.
This is how you avoid this annoying bug
Are you affected by this annoying bug? There is a way to avoid the problem. For this you must in any case have less than 64GB in use, because as soon as you exceed this limit you will have to deal with the bug. This is how you can see how much storage space is still available on your Apple TV:
- Open ‘Settings’;
- Tap on ‘General’;
- Go to ‘Manage storage’.
Once you have less than 64GB of storage space available, you can choose which apps you want to download. If you tap all those apps in succession to download, the apps will be queued. They will then be automatically installed one by one. In this way, the apps will be downloaded, even if they take up more than 64GB together.
