Brand new Android smartwatches should be avoided for good reason

If you currently want to buy a new Android smartwatch, you should be careful. A big announcement from Google, Samsung and Fitbit will change the market a lot this year. Fossil, on the other hand, would like to start again with an old generation, but for good reasons it is not recommended.

Brand new Fossil Gen 5 LTE smartwatch is already out of date

Just a few days ago, Fossil announced that the Android smartwatches currently on sale will no longer receive an upgrade to the new Google Wear. So it’s really surprising that suddenly with the Fossil Gen 5 LTE presented a new model with old technology has been. This comes on the market normally for an impressive 369 euros, but of course it won’t get an upgrade to Google Wear either. So if you buy this smartwatch, you will get a discontinued model at the market launch that will remain in the state it is currently in.

Instead it will be in a few months the 6th generation of Fossil smartwatches brought on the market. For this, the company promises many improvements and then also the new Google Wear operating system. You should buy this new watch first, because it is future-proof. When exactly it will appear is not yet known. Samsung is also working on a new Galaxy Watch 4 that uses Google Wear.

You should wait to buy a smartwatch

I recently wrote an article on why you should wait to buy an Android smartwatch. This applies to older models, but of course now also to new watches with old technology that are still coming onto the market. Fossil should have simply given the Gen 5 LTE as a gift. You can of course buy an older watch at a really good price if you are satisfied with the range of functions. Almost 400 euros for a basically outdated model from Fossil, but you should definitely not spend.
