Black Ops Cold War Outbreak: Brand New Zombie Mode
With Black Ops Cold War Outbreak, Call of Duty gets a brand new, promising zombie mode. And it is temporarily free!
Zombie mode is one of the cornerstones of Call of Duty’s Black Ops sub-franchise. Now a juicy new addition has been added. CoD: Black Ops Cold War is getting a brand new zombie mode called Outbreak with Season 2, Activision revealed. The game mode focuses more on collaboration and places a squad in a gigantic, open environment. Oh, and it’s free for a limited time!
Black Ops Cold War Outbreak
With the launch of Season 2 on February 25, Black Ops Cold War will get a new mode called Outbreak. It all takes place on the largest zombies map ever. That’s why vehicles are essential.
Groups of up to four players must traverse Russia’s undead territory and complete random objectives there. That is the focus of Black Ops Cold War Ourbreak; team up and complete as many missions as possible for loot. This is in contrast to the regular zombie mode where the goal is to survive as long as possible. Below you can check what to do in Outbreak:
- Defend – Defend a computer until it finishes its task.
- Escort – Escort a Rover to its final destination.
- Retrieve – Players must bring large barrels of Aetherium to a missile, where the carriers cannot use their weapons.
- Eliminate – A special zombie must be destroyed.
- Holdout – Players have to survive for a certain amount of time in a small space (a bit like normal Zombies).
All of which brings us to the final question: “To Exfil or Not to Exfil?”
Squads have the freedom to stop after each mission. You then have to reach an exfil and you can be evacuated by helicopter. There you get access to all kinds of extras such as a Crafting Table, a weapon arsenal, upgrades, Der Wunderfizz and the Pack-a-Punch machine.
But you can also choose to do another mission with that extra gear. They are more difficult and provide greater rewards. Those rewards, XP and various types of Aetherium Crystals, can be used to make your Outbreak character stronger again.
In short, with the Outbreak update, Black Ops Cold War changes from a regular CoD into a completely new experience. And this is temporarily free. From February 25th to March 4th everyone can play the Black Ops Multiplayer and Outbreak!
