Battlefield 2042 will fill the lobby with a lack of -apkrig players
After the publication of the first footage from Battlefield 2042 at the E3 conference of Microsoft and Bethesda, the developers from DICE held their own presentation, which – true – did not show much of the game, but discussed in detail the features of the upcoming title and gave an insight into the background. The Battlefield Briefing, as the event was called, had generous, almost hour-long footage, and the developers touched on game modes, the number of players, Specialists, the size of maps, weapons or live-service mechanisms. Their talk complements the already known information and partly also explains how to get into the game at least some story, considering that Battlefield 2042 will be a purely multiplayer affair.
Starting with the absence of a single player campaign, the developers reiterated that they wanted to focus fully on what they did best. DICE developers want to invest all their know-how in preparing, in their words, the ultimate multiplayer experience, and they don’t seem to review the decisions later, for example through DLC with story missions. We should learn about the world in which Battlefield 2042 takes place through so-called Specialists – soldiers who have a special place in the unit and, like the heroes in Star Wars: Battlefront, can shift the focus of the battle or reverse its course.
Each of the Specialists has its own story background and provides an insight into the company of people who have lost their homes and gradually become a thorn in the side of the remaining superpowers, against whom they subsequently revolted. The best soldiers of the Non-Patriated community – abbreviated No-Pats – became the mentioned specialists with unique equipment and especially abilities. These are mainly because the developers have confirmed that you can change the equipment – the standard loadout – completely arbitrarily and regardless of which class of Specialists you have just chosen. You can change the primary and secondary weapon, equipment such as first aid kits or ammunition magazines and, of course, grenades. Along with that, you will also be able to change the appearance of the Specialists, so that there are no skirmishes of identical-looking soldiers, which is what Battlefield wants to define indirectly towards Call of Duty.
Regarding the report on the number of people in matches and boots, the developers first explained that the 128-player lobby will only be accessible on PC, Xbox Series and PlayStation 5. In the case of the older generation of consoles, where Battlefield 2042 naturally comes with a number of limitations and trade-offs. half of the players will face each other. In both cases, however, it will be true that if not enough people meet, the game itself will fill in the missing places with characters with artificial intelligence and will start the game regardless of anything. As mentioned above, the report divides the community – while some certainly do not want to play against AI, other players – for example from regions where there is a significant time lag against the United States or Europe – welcome the plan to engage the shoes. They could also be useful if you are interested in playing a mode that is not one of the most popular at the moment, or for training in setting up a private game. However, the developers no longer explained whether they would accept players who would also be looking for a match in the game as a replacement for their shoes, or they would leave it locked with the original settings and let new live players into it in the meantime before the next match.
Another topic was the size of the maps, which had been leaked by speculation before the game was even revealed. At the launch, Battlefield 2042 will have seven maps that have already been introduced and include countries such as Qatar, South Korea, Singapore and Antarctica. Under their names, however, players are not able to imagine anything at all until they explore them themselves, and one aspect is, of course, the size that the developers boasted compared to other well-known maps from previous games. For example, Hour Glass, processing the city of Doha in Qatar, is four times the size of the Hamada map from Battlefield V, and so is the Orbital map compared to Narvik, also from Battlefield V. The largest location is Irreversible in Antarctica, which is about twice as large. than the legendary El Alamein from Battlefield 1942. It will be possible to play all available game modes on all maps, of which the developers have so far introduced only Breakthrough and Conquest. The third mode – Hazard Zone – which is supposed to be an intersection between classic multiplayer and battle royale mode – is still waiting to be revealed and the developers did not provide any further details about it, even during the briefing.
The last thing worth stabbing is changing the settings of your weapon during the match, without having to respawn and change all the equipment. On the special menu you can choose from four categories – optics / visor, muzzle / barrel, type of ammunition / magazines and various grips or stocks. Of course, the choice is limited, but you have a chance to quickly adjust your weapon, for example for close combat, if you need to, or you will be forced to do so by constantly changing circumstances on the map. Changes in the weather and other unexpected events can change the appearance of the entire battlefield and move the battle to a completely different part of the map than the one that took place so far. In addition, the developers say that thanks to the size of the maps, you will always have a choice of where to get into the turmoil, which also applies to compact breakthroughs, locking players in one sector. This too will have a large area and is supposed to offer more strategic and tactical options than any part in the past.
