Axiom-1: the private crew has entered the International Space Station
After the successful takeoff yesterday then the docking of the capsule Dragon at theISS around 2:15 p.m. this Saturday, April 9, the private crew of the Axiom-1 mission (a first) returned on board the International Space Station. Only a few tens of minutes ago, the hatch opened, and one by one, the members of Axiom-1 entered the ISS according to a now well-established protocol. As a reminder, the Axiom-1 private mission is a first of its kind since its crew does not include any active astronauts (the mission commander is however a former NASA astronaut).
Michael Lopez-AlegrÃaa former NASA astronaut (and commander on the Ax 1 mission), Larry Connor (United States), Mark Pathy (Canada), and Eytan Stibbe (Israel) have therefore joined the current crew of the ISS, namely NASA astronauts Marshburn, Raja Chari and Kayla Barroneuropean space agency astronaut Matthias Maurer as well as Russian astronauts Oleg Artemyev, Sergey Korsakov and Denis Matveev. Newcomers will have a lot to do during the 8 days they will spend in the station, with dozens of scientific experiments on the menu. Within 2 years, the Axiom missions will have made it possible to attach several modules to the ISS, including a cinema set module in which actor Tom Cruise will shoot.
