WhatsApp gives you more time before messages are deleted
Just recently, WhatsApp introduced expiring messages. Since then, users have been able to set in chats that sent messages, pictures and videos are automatically deleted after 24 hours or 7 days. This period is extended to 90 days in the current beta version of WhatsApp with the number 2.21.17.16 (source: WABetaInfo). If the function is switched on, the content disappears automatically after the set time.
WhatsApp has already tested various times during development at which messages are automatically deleted. Now you have probably decided on a day, a week and 90 days. Why now suddenly 90 days? It is not known. It would make more sense to include another month in order not to let the distance between the individual levels become too great. 90 days seems a bit arbitrary in our eyes. Overall, that’s a good sign, because WhatsApp not only provides new functions, but also continues to work on refining existing features. It is quite possible that more time periods will be unlocked over time.

WhatsApp is working on more and more data protection
The messenger has recently received many innovations that make it more secure. The expiring messages made the beginning, then WhatsApp introduced messages that you can only look at once and that are then automatically deleted. In addition, backups in the cloud will soon be encrypted. So WhatsApp seems to be on the right trackto be safer.
