Apple’s M3 chip: these are the most important innovations
It hasn’t been that long since Apple announced the M2 chip. This chip was the successor to the M1 and was the first to be included in the new MacBook Air 2022.
This M2 chip was a bit more energy efficient than the M1. The chip had also become 18 percent faster. Nothing wrong with that, but the upgrade was a bit disappointing. After all, with an M1 chip you can also move forward.

That will change with the M3 chip. This chip appears in a 3-nanometer version (the M1 and M2 were still based on the 5-nanometer format). The switch to this new format has a significant advantage. The new M3 chip from Apple is therefore a lot more energy efficient.
Being more energy efficient has several advantages
This of course has a few significant advantages. This way, you can use one battery charge even longer and the laptop won’t heat up as much. It is not known how much more economical the chip will become, but the switch to a different manufacturing process can technically yield a maximum benefit of about 40 percent (with equal performance).
Of course, this won’t be the only thing Apple will improve on the M3 chip. It will probably also be a bit faster again and it will get some more graphics or processor cores. The higher speed naturally requires a bit more power, but the bottom line is that the M3 chip will certainly be a lot more energy efficient.
M3 chip: when is the release?
According to various rumors, you won’t have to wait that long for the new Apple chip. The first Macs with an M3 chip should appear sometime in April 2023.
The first Mac to receive this chip will probably be the MacBook Air 2023. The rumors also say that the 13-inch MacBook Pro will receive the new Apple M3 chip. Of course, other Macs will follow later this year.
