Apple will unveil this product during WWDC 2022 on Monday
Apple will unveil its latest operating systems at WWDC next Monday, including iOS 16. The event will focus on software, but the company is also likely to unveil a new Apple product.
Read on after the ad.
WWDC: New MacBook Air 2022
For many Apple enthusiasts, WWDC is one of the most fun Apple events of the year. Apple then shows which major features are coming to the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV. Sometimes it doesn’t stop with new software, and this year there is also a chance that the tech giant will also put a new product in the spotlight.
According to trusted Apple insider Mark Gurman of Bloomberg Apple has been aiming for a while to launch the MacBook Air with M2 chip during WWDC. Supply chain issues would have complicated this, but developers say Apple employees are increasingly using next-generation MacBook Airs for their apps. According to Gurman, this is a sign that a release of the new MacBook Air is near.
Not a VR headset after all
There were also rumors that we’ll hear more about the new VR headset that Apple is working on during WWDC, but Gurman thinks this is unlikely. He previously said the headset’s launch has been delayed to 2023, after multiple development issues. For example, there were issues with overheating.
So it will probably remain with one Apple product: a new MacBook Air. The current version dates back to November 2020, so the Air is due for an update. According to rumors, the device will be enhanced by an M2 chip, it will be available in all kinds of cheerful colors and there will be a redesign, whereby the Air resembles the current MacBook Pro 2021.
We may know more on Monday. The Apple event will start at 7 p.m., which can be followed live on YouTube. Don’t have the time or inclination to watch, but do you want to be informed about the announcements? Then sign up for our newsletter:
