Apple updates the firmware of… its USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable
Apple offers updates from time to time for its products like iPhone, iPad, Mac and others like AirPods or even the MagSafe Duo charger. Today, we are entitled to a firmware update… from the USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable.
Indeed, even the USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable is entitled to an update, it is firmware 10M1543. The update happens automatically when the cable is plugged in and there doesn’t seem to be any way to check which version is currently installed. In addition, Apple does not communicate any information on the changes or fixes to be found with the new version distributed today.
Here is how Apple presents its cable:
This 2m power cable features a magnetic MagSafe 3 connector that guides the plug into the charging port of your Mac laptop. Pair it with a compatible USB‑C power adapter to charge your laptop from a wall outlet and enjoy fast charging capabilities. The magnetic connection is strong enough to withstand most unintentional disconnections. However, if someone accidentally pulls on the cable, it will detach and prevent your Mac laptop from falling. The LED indicator turns orange when the battery is charging and green when fully charged. Made of a woven material for greater resistance.
The USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable is sold for 55€ at Apple and it is possible to have it (a little) cheaper at Amazon at €53.28.
