Apple TV coming to Android phones and tablets
The Apple TV app is coming to Android smartphones, a rumor knows. Right now, Apple may be testing the app and then it will be released “soon” in the Google Play Store.
Apple TV on Android
Since 2021 you can watch movies and series from Apple TV if you have a smart TV that works with Android TV. Of course, Apple’s decision has already opened the door for an introduction to Android smartphones and tablets. The app will be available soon, at least as the rumor spreader ShrimpApplePro (via Twitter) may believe.
Long ago, Apple’s strategy was to pay as little attention as possible to the competition. The company didn’t have any Android apps, and Apple products weren’t compatible with other ecosystems either. Today Airpods just work with Android phones, although you can hardly do anything with the Apple Watch as an Android user. Tim Cook’s company also offers its Apple Music service in the Google Play Store. Apple Music is a very good choice for those who want to listen to lossless music.
New strategy
It makes sense that Apple’s strategy has changed over the years. Namely, there are two major mobile operating systems that aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. The company can therefore increase its revenue by making its subscriptions more widely available.
Still, Apple remains cautious about offering apps for services that do not generate an immediate subscription fee. You can only track AirPods trackers with an Android phone, but you cannot set them. In addition, it also keeps its iMessage app safe within the walls of iOS.
For AppleTV customers who own an Android smartphone or tablet, a Play Store app will be a great added value. You could already use Apple TV via the browser, but via that web version you miss many functions, such as the option to watch movies and series offline. On Apple TV you can watch series such as: Ted Lasso, The Afterparty and Surface.
