Apple sells a $ 25 cloth to clean the MacBook Pro screen
Apple now sells a cloth for 25 euros on its online store. This excessively expensive piece of cloth can be used to clean the screen of new MacBook Pros, iPhones and even iPads.
In a second annual keynote, Apple lifted the veil on a new Apple Music subscription, colorful HomePod mini, AirPods 3, M1 Pro and M1 Max processors, and, finally, the new 2021 MacBook Pro.
In the wake of the conference, the Silicon Valley giant has put on sale on the Apple Store a series of accessories for its high-end computers. In particular, we discovered on the online store a MagSafe charger to USB-C at a price of 55 euros.
A piece of cloth with an Apple logo printed
One accessory in particular caught the attention of Internet users: the cloth. Sold at a price of 25 euros, this piece of cloth is intended for screen cleaning of Apple devices, including iPhones or the new MacBook Pros.
“Made of a soft-touch, non-abrasive material, the wipe cleans any Apple display, including nano-textured glass, effectively and safely.”, boasts Apple on its online store. Previously, the brand had already marketed a cloth exclusively dedicated to cleaning the Pro Display XDR screen.
For the other terminals in its catalog, Apple simply redirected users to “A soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth, such as an optical cloth” or even a damp cloth with a little hot soapy water.
Not surprisingly, Apple has placed its famous logo apple-shaped bite into a corner of the wipe. As is often the case with Apple accessories, this piece of rag is ridiculously expensive. Indeed, a cloth that is probably just as effective (but without the precious logo) is sold at a much more affordable price on a site like Amazon. We find in particular packs of 25 cloths for only 15 euros.
In the same vein, we will remember the excessively high price of the Mac Pro wheels. In France, computer casters are sold at the price of 480 euros, or 120 euros per wheel. Note also that the stand that accompanies the Pro Display XDR screen, the high-end 6k screen designed by LG and cut for the Mac Pro, is priced at 1099 €.
