Apple Pays CEO Tim Cook a Bizarre Amount
Apple CEO Tim Cook was the second-highest-paid CEO of all Fortune 500 companies in 2021, behind Tesla’s Elon Musk. Of course.
Tim Cook has always made quite a bit of money. He has been with Apple for a long time and has been in the higher echelons for a long time. As the head of one of the largest technology companies in the world, Tim Cook is expected to receive significant compensation for his leadership. Looking at the highest paid CEOs, it seems that Cook is near the top of the list.
Apple CEO Cook receives bizarre amount
In a list made by Fortune comparing the pay of CEOs within the Fortune 500, Cook was ranked second. This adds up to a total of $770.5 million in 2021. However, the report admits that this is not a figure that stems from a base salary, but instead part of a 10-year share grant worth $1.7 billion .
Cook gets a more typical annual fee from the company, as well as other benefits. In 2021, he received $82 million in more stock, as well as approximately $630,630 for personal security expenses and $712,488 for private jet use, in addition to a base salary.
Critic
While critics urged shareholders to vote against a $99 million compensation package for Cook in March, investors voted for the measure anyway. Fortune argues that Cook’s 2021 earnings are justifiable because of Apple’s performance in the stock market. And that he managed to make $95 billion in profit by the end of the year.
Cook follows Space X and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who received $23.5 billion in compensation in 2021. This by exercising Tesla stock options granted in 2018. In third place is Nvidia’s Jensen Huang with $561 million, while Netflix’s Reed Hastings has $453.5 million.
