Apple has not yet introduced any new AirPods this year, but customers are waiting. For example on the AirPod Pro 2, but how long do you have to be patient? An influential Apple expert already knows more and reveals his level of knowledge to us.
The new year started promisingly, in January it was said that Apple would present the successor to the AirPods Pro in spring. But as is well known, nothing came of it and we are all still waiting. In May, Mark Gurman from the news magazine Bloomberg announced a delay, so we would not see the AirPods Pro 2 until 2022. Can this really be?
Apple expert Kuo sure: AirPods Pro 2 not until next year
It all looks like it, because now reported also Apple expert and best-informed insider Ming-Chi Kuo about Apple’s changed plans. As a result we can only expect the AirPods Pro 2 in 2022, not beforer. Kuo does not provide a more detailed definition of the release date, but we now know that we will have to wait at least another six months. Our assumption: The time will come in spring (March or April) at the earliest. Ergo: In the end, it will be more than nine months before the performance.
So if you are thinking of buying the latest AirPods Pro, you shouldn’t hesitate, because the waiting time is quite long. Especially since the AirPods Pro are currently very attractively priced are. At Amazon, for example, we currently only pay 190.01 euros. As a reminder, the manufacturer still wants to have 279 euros for this in the Apple Store. However, the successors are likely to start in a similar price region next year and not immediately fall in price. So now you can still get a bargain.

If you still want to wait, you can expect a changed design with the AirPods Pro 2. Rumors say one Shape without the distinctive “stub” ahead, similar to the recently introduced Beats Studio Buds. We are also talking about updated motion sensors and fitness tracking options.

By the way: The current year does not have to go by without new AirPods, because experts are still expecting the third generation of “normal” AirPods in 2021. They were also expected in spring, but their postponement should definitely not drag on into next year. A presentation in the next few months, perhaps also in connection with the iPhone 13 in September, is therefore quite conceivable.
