Less than a week ago, Apple announced an event for tonight, October 18. 2021 During the previous keynote in September, Apple did not show everything that is rumored to be released in 2021. The expectation is that tonight’s event will mainly be dominated by the Mac, but Apple may have some surprises in store. Curious about what Apple will present? We take you past our expectations.

1. A new MacBook Pro

The reason for tonight’s event is probably a new MacBook Pro 2021. This will reportedly be given a completely new design for the first time since 2016. The edges around the screen become thinner, so that the 13-inch model grows to 14-inch. The 16-inch model continues to maintain this size.

The screen also uses the mini-LED technology that we already know from the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. As a result, contrast and brightness are much better, while energy consumption is reduced. The latest rumor talks about a webcam ‘notch’, but we won’t believe it until we see it.

An even greater change is taking place on the inside. All MacBook Pros will now get an Apple processor, and it should be even more powerful than the current M1. Whether it will be an M1X, M2, M1 Pro or M1 Max, we don’t know yet. But the fact is that the new MacBook Pros are going to be very fast.

Finally, we hear noises that a lot of old connections are returning, such as MagSafe, an SD card reader and HDMI. In combination with the screen and the processor, the MacBook Pro thus once again becomes a laptop that deserves its ‘Pro’ name.

2. Release of macOS Monterey

Another buyer: tonight Apple will undoubtedly discuss the release of macOS Monterey. Last year, Big Sur came out in November, but that was quite late. macOS Monterey may launch at the same time as the new Macs, so it could be that time this Friday.

3. A new Mac mini

If Apple presents a new version of the M1 processor, it is very likely that it will also come in other models. The Mac mini may get a high-end version with the new chip.

With a little more imagination, it could also be possible that the Mac mini will get a new design, just like the MacBook Pro. Earlier we heard rumors of a design that harks back to the first Apple TV with a glass top. The Mac mini could also become smaller, because the power supply (just like with the iMac) becomes an extra box.

4. A 30-inch iMac (Pro)?

An Apple event all about the Mac? Why not? The Mac model we’ve been hearing the longest about is the successor to the ‘big’ 27-inch iMac. The screen is said to be a lot bigger, because the edges are narrower. But how big exactly? Will it be 30 inches or 32 inches? Hopefully we’ll know more tonight.

You can also assume that the larger iMac will get the same powerful processor as the new MacBook Pros.

5. AirPods 3

With the exception of the first AirPods (from 2017 during the presentation of the iPhone 7), Apple’s earbuds were never presented at an event. In recent years, Apple has always only sent a press release, even for the AirPods Max. But the AirPods are selling like hot cakes, so Apple may want to present them as large as possible before the Christmas period.

The AirPods 3 are expected to have a similar design to the AirPods Pro, but without silicone earplugs. Noise cancellation is not included, but the ‘head-tracking’ function and ‘Find My’ support is included.
