Apple AR / VR headset: three models in preparation, including the Reality Pro in 2023
Apple is currently preparing three mixed reality headsets (augmented reality and virtual reality) and the first of them should be called Reality Pro according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.
The three products are codenamed N301, N602 and N421. The N301 would correspond to the Apple Reality Pro. This model would be Apple’s high-end rival to Meta’s upcoming Quest Pro headset. The N602 would be the successor to the Apple Reality Pro and could be offered at a lower price. N421 represents augmented reality glasses from Apple which have already been talked about and which would arrive later.
The name coincides in any case with a recent trademark application from Apple. The company has applied to register the trademarks Reality Processor, Reality Pro and Reality One. Besides, one wonders if the product with the code name N602 is not the one that will be called Reality One.
The latest news is that Apple will announce its mixed headphones (Reality Pro therefore) at an event in January 2023. The headphones will have two 4K micro-OLED screens, 15 optical modules, two main processors, support for Wi-Fi 6E, the eye tracking, object tracking and hand gesture controls. The price would be high, with hallway noise suggesting a rate around $2,000 or $3,000.
