Anti-cheat for Call of Duty was supposed to escape the public -apkrig
On Wednesday evening, Activision representatives unveiled the new Ricochet anti-cheat system, which aims to ensure fair conditions in Call of Duty: Warzone and later in other parts of the series, starting with Vanguard. The messages of the developers, a short video and especially a detailed blog post gave players hope in their veins, regardless of Ricochet’s relatively straightforward approach, which enters the core of the operating system. It almost seemed that the players were willing to exchange anything for not encountering cheaters in the game, which spoil the fun of everyone around. According to current indications, however, it seems that the source code of Ricochet fell into the hands of cheat makers, when he had to escape to the Internet less than a day after the introductory presentation. The information is provided by the renowned fan portal ModernWarzone with reference to nearby sources and several screenshots.

“Today, rumors of a Ricochet leak have appeared on Twitter and cheat discussion forums, although at the time there was no evidence as to whether users were lying or not,” the editors of ModernWarzone say at the beginning of a rather sad article. Immediately afterwards, however, they add that they have been anonymously approached by various sources of this report, and after examining the files, they confirm that the source code of Ricochet has actually leaked to the Internet. What’s more, the closed groups are said to have expanded to public discussion forums, so anyone should have access to Ricochet without restrictions. “The speed with which this leak has spread, along with the number of resources that have reached and confirmed it, probably indicates that the files are very useful to the entire cheater community,” says ModernWarzone.
This would mean that the authors of the cheats can start literally luxury start creating the necessary tools in advance, which they can offer to players according to the rules that are still working and get rich that they are not willing to lose. If a leak actually occurred, for Activision, resp. appropriate developers Call of Duty, this would mean the need to complete the entire project, or at least significantly modify it, so that no part of the original source code can be reused to produce cheats. It would be unpleasant for the players, of course – the honest ones, of course – and it is possible that a possible case could be reflected in the sales and acceptance of Vanguard. But paradoxically, everything can have a good ending.
There is a theory, which is also commented on by ModernWarzone, according to which it can be a controlled escape in the form of bait, which the authors of the cheats jumped on at least in the first hours. The article refers to Activision’s report on the security of its games, which states that the development team responsible for the new anti-cheat is composed of security experts with experience from a wide range of industries. It is therefore not entirely impossible that they wanted to to try offered procedure, which would not be a novelty in the space of video games. In addition, as the developers pointed out on Wednesday night, Ricochet is not only software that players install on their PCs, but also a neural network connected to artificial intelligence to take care of other necessary components of the system, such as detecting patterns of player behavior with cheats. ways of shooting or aiming them, on the basis of which the detection of fraudsters should be more effective.
