Another Chromecast with Google TV is on the way. Will it be a cannon?

When Google introduced another device in the Chromecast family at the end of 2020, much of the attention was diverted from this piece of hardware by the new television Google TV system. However, the product itself bore its fault with this, and currently continues to bear it in some parameters it is not completely dazzling and enticing. Especially 8GB of memory, in addition, about half of the system, there is nothing that everyone would eagerly jump for. Therefore, it is pleasing the news that another Chromecast is probably coming.

The 9to5google editorial office managed to find traces of the device with the pseudonym in the internal documentation and at the same time during the analysis of some applications Boreal. Mentions of this device can be found in the same permissions and settings section, in which previous Chromecasts can be found. In the same “family” of hardware Sabrina, the code name of the already mentioned “Chromecast with Google TV” from 2020, is also present.

Nothing else is known about the specifications of the planned successor, but in theory it could be more than just a tiny connecting “dongle” to a TV or monitor. If Google only wanted to improve a few parameters, it might prefer to release eg “Chromecast with Google TV 2022” than another new device. Given the success of competing Nvidia SHIELD and the fact that Google operates its streaming gaming service Stadia, among other things, we can also expect much larger and more equipped “cannon”.
