Android Auto rolls out dual SIM support: do you already have it?
You will soon be able to choose from your car with which phone number you want to make a call. Android Auto will work with dual SIM devices and the function is already available for the first users of the Android Auto beta.
Android Auto dual sim
A user of the social news site Reddit got into his car this weekend and found that when making a call, he could choose between his phone’s two SIM cards. Google announced in September that Android Auto will receive support for work profiles and dual-SIM functionality. Looks like the second one is on the way now.
We clearly say “on the way”, because it is already clear that Google has only rolled out the feature to the first small group of users. The affected user who took the photo below has version 7.1.614554 of Android Auto and is enrolled in the beta of the Play Store. But not all beta users can already make calls with their two SIM cards.
Distinguish work and private life
If you currently use a phone with two SIM cards in the car, Google’s software will automatically take your default SIM card. This is less useful if, for example, you want to call a colleague on the road with your work phone number. Google is also going to make it even easier to distinguish between work and private on the go, because all your compatible work apps will soon appear in the Android Auto interface. They then get a separate work icon.
