Amazon is throwing out over 600 Chinese brands and over 3,000 retailers
Amazon is finally banning hundreds of Chinese brands from its marketplace. The reason is the continued, systematic and large-scale violation of the evaluation guidelines of the e-commerce market leader.
Over 600 Chinese brands from over 3,000 retailers will no longer be permanently available via the global Amazon marketplaces. This also includes the products of well-known brands such as Aukey, Rav-Power, Taotronics, Mpow or Choetech. The manufacturers had mainly concentrated on accessories such as power banks, cables or headsets.
What could previously only be recognized by observation, Amazon has now confirmed to the state broadcaster China Central Television. The online retailer has permanently banned more than 600 brands since May. The company is not finished yet. In the future, too, systematic action will be taken against valuation fraud. That reports the South China Morning Post.
The reason for the expulsion consists in continued attempts to violate Amazon’s evaluation guidelines. Affected brands are said to have pimped up their rating profile with reviews that are paid for but not marked as such. Buyers were also systematically promised gifts or discounts if they left a positive review in return. Reviewers who had given negative ratings were contacted by the brands with the request to remove the negative rating in exchange for a waiver of the purchase price or in exchange for an alternative product.
After Amazon initially became active, many brands had tried to continue to outsmart Amazon by unceremoniously selling under new brand names. That should have been the drop that broke the barrel. The marketplace operator spoke of “repeated, knowledgeable and significant” violations of the guidelines.
Now Amazon has drawn serious consequences against the brands that have become conspicuous and their retailer organizations. The sales ban is permanent, the dealer accounts have been deactivated. A return to the Amazon marketplace is not possible for the foreseeable future for those sanctioned in this way. Despite, or perhaps because of, the severity of the intervention, Amazon sees its actions in the best interests of its customers and trading partners who adhere to the guidelines.
