Amazon is going to accept Bitcoin and also make its own crypto
It has to happen: soon you will be able to pay with Bitcoin on Amazon. And they are also going to make their own crypto.
If you go to space, you can also create your own digital currency. Presumably that’s what Jeff Bezos thought. Amazon’s CEO recently posted a crypto expert job posting. The person who is going to be hired must help with these two goals.
Amazon, Bitcoin and your own crypto
That’s quite ambitious. But Amazon is probably going to do it. The company plans to accept Bitcoin as a means of payment by the end of 2021. This comes from an anonymous report published in the London newspaper City AM Well, an anonymous report in a local newspaper… Yet the price of the digital currency shot up as a result and the report creates a lot of rumors in the world of cryptocurrencies.
“This isn’t just about the moves to set up cryptocurrency payment solutions at some point in the future – this is a full, well-discussed, integral part of the future mechanism of how Amazon will operate,” the unnamed source said.
Inside information
And Bitcoin will not be the only currency. The nice claims that Bitcoin will be the first of about eight cryptocurrencies that Amazon will start accepting, eventually including coins such as Ethereum, Cardano and Bitcoin cash.
Also, according to the source, the company itself has plans to develop its own cryptocurrency. Why not? They have enough money to develop a digital currency. And the company could make it possible to earn rewards for paying with what the insider calls Amazon’s “native coin.” Amazon did not immediately respond to a question from Gizmodo about the crypto plans early Monday.
But it looks like Amazon is on to something. Especially after it became clear this weekend that a vacancy is open for a Digital Currency and Blockchain Product Lead.
