Amazon is finally making the Echo Show 15 a small TV
When Amazon introduced its Echo Show 15, I was thrilled. A smart display with a huge screen would be perfect for consuming content while cooking in the kitchen or similar. But the smart display wasn’t that smart, because there was no Fire TV. Amazon catches up on this almost a year later and makes the largest Echo display so much more interesting.
Amazon makes Echo Show 15 a mini TV
With the Echo Show 15, Amazon had me immediately after the presentation. Actually, I wanted to order directly, because up to then I had used the Echo Show 5. Only when I took a closer look did I notice that the smart display’s range of functions is quite limited. Especially the missing Fire TV bothered me. Why should Amazon have left that out? So I didn’t buy it. But now Amazon is delivering the software update, which should actually be integrated from the start. Fire TV finds its way onto the Echo Show 15 and with it the possibility to do everything you know from your Fire TV streaming stick on the television.
For me and probably for many other interested parties, that changes everything. The Echo Show 15 thus becomes one small streaming TV for the kitchen or other places where there is no TV, but you can still access series, films or other content via various streaming services. In my opinion, the Echo Show 15 only fulfills its purpose after this software update and becomes a small entertainment TV – without restrictions. You have a small Fire TV that you can hang up anywhere.

In the meantime, the price of the Echo Show 15 has already fallen a bit (check it out at Amazon). The software update with Fire TV makes the device even more interesting and attractive. If you’ve hesitated before, now is the time to hit. I’m still waiting, though, because I’m still interested in the Echo Show 15, but the Pixel tablet with the docking station might even be a better fit for me. But that won’t come until 2023.
