Amazon has a huge gift for Prime customers – with a big catch
Amazon has long been one of the big players in the streaming business. While practically nobody else can keep up with the video apart from Netflix, things are not going quite so smoothly with the music. That should change now. Amazon is massively upgrading the Prime offer, launching an attack on Spotify and Apple Music.
Amazon opens music catalogue: 100 million songs available for Prime customers
Until now, Amazon Music has been an offer that is only linked to a very small extent to Prime membership. Prime customers could listen to 2 million songs without having to take out an additional subscription to Amazon Music Unlimited. That costs at least 9.99 euros per month. But now Amazon is taking a step that will bring the two services closer together. Prime members can now access 100 million songs at no extra cost and ad-free. Amazon has now announced this (source: dpa via World).
This will release the entire music catalog for Prime members, which was previously only accessible via Amazon Music Unlimited. But Amazon is not depriving its own music streaming service of its livelihood, because there is a significant limitation: Prime subscribers can do not use the full offer on-demand, but only via random playback.
So if you just want to play some music along the way, the choice for Prime customers increases massively. But if you’re looking for a specific song or album that wasn’t available before, you probably won’t find it. Although Amazon updates the catalogs from time to time, 98 percent of all songs that Prime members can hear via Amazon Music cannot be found in the search.

New Amazon strategy lacks real added value for customers
you can yours favourite song so probably don’t listen when you feel like it. Instead, the random number generator rules. At least Amazon Prime subscribers can save songs in playlists. You can now create and maintain 15 lists. You can also skip songs indefinitely.
At the same time, Amazon is upgrading the range of podcasts and radio plays. Here, too, the selection should be larger. Agreements have also been made with many providers Ad-free listening to popular podcasts should allow.
Superficially, Amazon offers Prime customers a big plus with the innovations, after all 98 million new songs. Unfortunately, the actual benefit is limited by the need to use shuffle mode. In order to really offer customers added value after the price increase for the Prime subscription and in the face of strong competition, Amazon has to come up with more.
