Amazon cancels pre-orders without warning
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom, the new opus in Nintendo’s cult saga, is due to land on May 12, 2023 on Switch. Naturally, players rushed to pre-order its Collector’s Edition after its presentation. But obviously, succeeding in placing an order does not guarantee receiving the precious sesame.
In 2023, we will have the right to a great video game year, with the arrival of highly anticipated titles such as Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, Diablo IV, Final Fantasy XVI or Assassin’s Creed: Mirage and Starfield to name a few.
But for many players, 2023 will be marked above all by the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom, the next installment in Nintendo’s cult saga. And yes, the title is expected on Nintendo Switch as soon as this May 12, 2023.
In early February, the Japanese publisher held a new Nintendo Direct conference. The opportunity for BigN to reveal some important details about Link’s future adventures. First of all, the manufacturer confirmed the price increase announced by several rumors. So, the title will be offered at €69.99 instead of the €59.99 usually requested for Nintendo exclusives.
And of course, players can also pounce on a collector’s editiondisplayed at a rather hefty price of €129.99 (compared to €99.99 for the majority of Nintendo game collectors). If this inflation has been pointed out by some disgruntled players, many users have rushed to Amazon, Cdiscount, Boulanger and others to buy the precious sesame.
Amazon suddenly cancels Collector’s Edition pre-orders
Only and as revealed by our colleagues from JV.com, succeeding in placing an order does not guarantee obtaining this special edition… On Amazon France, at least. Indeed, the specialized site noted with dismay the pure and simple deletion of his pre-order in its list of orders awaiting delivery.
A worrying disappearance, especially since Amazon has not offered any explanation. We finally had to wait until the next day to get more details from the e-commerce giant: “We regret to inform you that we have been forced to cancel this item from your order, as the manufacturer has informed us that it is unable to supply Amazon with the expected quantities. This item being out of stock with no restocking commitment from the manufacturer, we will not be able to deliver it to you”, writes Amazon.
According to JV.com, these cancellations only concern French users. Indeed, no problem to report with the German, British or Italian branches of Amazon. What’s going on at Nintendo France?
