AirPods Pro and AirPods Max: no adaptive transparency after all
Okay, we don’t get it either. Will adaptive transparency (one of the new features of the AirPods Pro 2) come to the AirPods Pro and AirPods Max or not? Mark Gurman now says that this feature is really only for the AirPods Pro 2.
With adaptive transparency, the AirPods Pro 2 lets you mute a noisy construction site or make a noisy engine just passing by sound less loud. The function also comes in handy during a concert.
Adaptive transparency is only for the AirPods Pro 2
Apple announced the feature last month exclusively for the new AirPods Pro 2. These have a new H2 chip. The old AirPods Pro has a regular transparency mode that lets you hear ambient noise, but doesn’t mute loud sounds.
It came as a surprise when iOS 16.1 beta 3 came with a setting that allowed you to activate this mode for the AirPods Pro and the AirPods Max as well. Mark Gurman, a Bloomberg Apple analyst, reports now on Twitter that this is a software bug. Unfortunately!
Buy AirPods Pro 2
Would you still like to enjoy the adaptive transparency mode? Then there’s only one thing to do: you have to buy the new AirPods Pro 2! These Apple earbuds have excellent noise reduction, sound quality and a storage box with new functions.
So, in addition to the addition of this damping option, they are actually a lot better than the predecessors. Do you want to buy the AirPods Pro 2? Then quickly check our AirPods Pro 2 price comparison!
