For many, Facebook has become an indispensable part of everyday life. Yet it can also be a great source of distraction. In addition, the application is full of sounds. What do you need to adjust right away?

Facebook: turn off sounds

If you have never looked in the settings of the Facebook app, it may just be that for every mistake you hear a sound in the Facebook app. Or how about auto-playing videos. Perhaps you are not waiting for that at all.

Although the settings are somewhat hidden, luckily you can do something about it. Follow the steps below for an overview of these settings;

• Open the Facebook app
• Tap the three lines at the top right
• Scroll down and select ‘Settings and privacy’
• A window will expand, choose ‘Settings’
• Scroll all the way down and choose the ‘Media and Contacts’ option

Autoplay

You will then be taken to an overview with useful settings. For example, consider videos that start with sound in the news overview. The second option is to turn off sounds in the Facebook app. These are, for example, the sound effects that you hear when you like a message. Another useful setting is ‘Autoplay’. When you tap this you can specify that videos only start automatically on WiFi, or never start automatically at all.
