Activision loses partners in its e-sports competitions -apkrig
In the light of current events surrounding Activision, another inconvenience comes after a pair of lawsuits and many serious allegations. E-sports competitions, organized directly by Activision Blizzard, are losing sponsors from major companies and it is likely that T-Mobile, Coca-Cola or the insurance company State Farm will force smaller companies to consider continuing the partnership. The first mentioned has definitely left the waters of the leagues in the games Call of Duty and Overwatch and its logo has disappeared from the official website of the competition, the remaining subjects have expressed concern about the current situation and will decide on the next steps in the coming days.
As for T-Mobile, the termination of the cooperation was announced for the first time by Dexerto magazine, which noticed the above-described change in the list of partners on the official website of the Overwatch League. However, the sponsor was also removed in television graphics, and Call of Duty League players had the T-Mobile logo taped to their jerseys. Also, the reward for watching the whole round, which is usually a skin in the colors of one of the league teams in Overwatch, was previously accompanied by T-Mobile as a partner of these rewards, but the mention was removed from this place on social networks and is no longer used. This can be a problem not only for Activision Blizzard, or the organizers of the competition, but also for individual teams sponsored by T-Mobile. Although this partnership is governed by its own treaty, a higher-level incident can enter into these connections and the crisis is potentially exacerbated.
In the case of Coca-Cola and State Farm, the partnership has not yet been terminated, but only that both companies are aware of what is currently happening at Activision and negotiations with the gaming company will take place on how to proceed. So far, the logos have not disappeared from the web presentation of both described competitions, but State Farm has already issued an instruction that its logo should not be part of television graphics for the next round. An insurance spokesman for the Washington Post said they were already rethinking their relationship with the Overwatch League and that the league might lose its sponsor, which has been part of the competition since 2019. Similarly, Coca-Cola, who wants to also withdraw from visible places and discuss with Blizzard people whether the partnership will continue. However, the company’s spokesman did not want to comment on the details in more detail, and we should be clearer today from 9 pm, when the next round of the league begins.
We remind you that Coca-Cola is one of the most exposed partners, accompanying repeated shots, shots from the studio through cups of drinks for commentators, and is also a partner of statistics compiled by IBM, another of the major sponsors.
