Abortion in the United States: Apple reacts to the decision of the Supreme Court
Apple spoke out following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, who had guaranteed the right to abortion throughout the country since 1973. This decision has caused a lot of talk for 24 hours, all over the world.
In a statement to CNBCan Apple spokesperson said:
As we’ve said before, we support the rights of our employees to make their own decisions about their reproductive health. For more than a decade, Apple’s comprehensive benefits have enabled our employees to travel out of state to receive medical care if it is unavailable in their home state.
In September 2021, Apple said in an internal memo that it was following legal proceedings relating to abortion laws in Texas, and said at the time that the company’s benefits provided employees with access to care. out-of-state medical services if these were not available in their home state.
Apple is far from the only tech company to react to the US Supreme Court ruling. Alphabet (Google), Amazon and Meta (Facebook) also spoke on the subject of abortion rights in the United States. Everyone is outraged by this decision.
