Before every outing, check the football app for the match times or sit in front of the TV in full costume. These partners love, but really love, football.

Paris must wait
Lilian (36): “A weekend away with the whole family? Fine, but Derk checks the football app first. Is it not his favorite premier league club that plays at home so we can’t leave, or his own club that has an important match, so the party is cancelled. I don’t mind it so much, but there are hardly any Saturdays left. Really spontaneous ‘driving to Paris’ is therefore never an option with us.”

The dressed up carrot
Elizabeth (33): “As a born and raised American, I am used to a bit when it comes to sports, but the football madness of the Dutch was really new to me. How they dress up at competitions… As carrots, lions or even men as peasant women. I think it’s incredibly funny.
“He always wears orange, even when the American national team is playing”
My friend is doing the same thing. Thomas also dresses up for all football matches of the Dutch national team. He has piles of orange shirts and caps in his closet and at finals he dyes his hair orange. Apparently it’s in the genes, because our three-year-old son already has the necessary orange outfits that he absolutely wants to wear when playing football. Even when the American national team is playing.”
