A King Kong series is in preparation at Disney+
King Kong will land on Disney+ with the streaming service which is currently preparing a series. According Deadline, it will be a live action series and not animation. The project is still in its early stages.
The program will be based on the 1933 film conceived by producer and director Merian C. Cooper, and on more recent novelizations by artist Joe DeVito, made in collaboration with the estate of Merian C. Cooper. Stephany Folsom will write the script and will also executive produce alongside James Wan, Michael Clear and Rob Hackett (via their Atomic Monster banner), and Dannie Festa of World Builder Entertainment.
This King Kong is unrelated to Legendary Entertainment’s MonsterVerse, which released two films featuring the giant ape (Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla vs. Kong) and is currently working on a series project on Apple TV+, as well as an animated program on Netflix.
The Disney+ series will be an adventure story that will return to Skull Island, exploring the mythology and mystery of King Kong’s home.
There is currently not a shred of information about the cast, shooting date, release date and everything else. We will have to wait for the information in question.
