a compact, a van and even a bus, the manufacturer has a lot of projects in mind
Tesla has just published the third part of its Master Plan on its official website. If it is above all a question of the long-term strategy of the company in terms of battery and sustainable development, the document contains some clues about the next electric vehicles of the brand.
As you may know, Elon Musk gave a new Investor Day conference on March 1, 2023. For the occasion, the billionaire unveiled the 3rd part of his famous Master Planwhich can be summarized as the brand’s long-term strategy.
All that was missing was to put these ambitions on paper… And above all to detail them. It is now done, since the manufacturer has just published a complete PDF of the Master Plan 3 on its official website.
If it is mainly a question Tesla projects to electrify our means of transport such as cars, planes or boats, or to heat our homes and businesses, this document also contains some clues about the brand’s next electric vehicles.

Three mystery models for three ambitions
The famous electric compact
In the chapter “Batteries for Transportation”, we discover in particular the presence of three vehicles still unannounced and veiled by a white sheet. The first of these is in the compact category. According to information provided by Tesla, this new car would carry a 53 kWh LFP batteryor lithium-iron-phosphate.
As the American company points out, the lower energy density of this type of battery makes it the best choice for vehicles that require standard range (between 400 and 500 km), like city cars. Conversely, the manufacturer will favor high-density batteries (with a high nickel content) for long-range vehicles. The trademark here refers to the low-cobalt nickel-manganese cathodes currently under development.
According to figures shared by Tesla, the company expects to sell no less than 42 million copies of this mystery model. You will have understood, everything indicates that it would be the famous Tesla Model 2 compact at 25,000 dollars. Be that as it may, the ambitions are serious, since this objective represents double the sales Model 3 and Y (Tesla’s greatest successes).
An electric van for the pros
Regarding the second mystery model, Tesla mentions a van intended for the transport of people or materials. Obviously, this van will be equipped with the High Nickel battery, i.e. the future 4680. By extension, we would find the same 100 kWh pack that equips the Model S, Model X and the Cybertruck. With a target of 10 million sales, this van would therefore stand out as the 3rd best seller in the range. Note that this van could well be based on Tesla’s robotaxi announced in April 2022.
A bus to reign over public transport
Let’s come to the last model mentioned: a bus with a 300 kWh LFP battery. With such specifications, Tesla does not seem to want to attack the market of tourist coaches, but rather to propose a new offer of public transport. Because, a 300 kWh LFP battery does not allow long journeys. Here again, the ambitions are high, with forecasts of up to 10 million sales and a global park of 163 million copies. In how many years, Tesla does not say.
