EA drops name FIFA, that’s what the football game will be called from now on!
Replacing a strong name, you just have to dare. EA is going to do it by saying goodbye to the name FIFA.
EA has gold in their hands with the game FIFA. Not only has it been the game for football fanatics for years with a very accurate representation of everything that has to do with football, it is also a very strong name. FIFA is officially the umbrella organization behind everything to do with ‘real’ football, but you associate it more quickly with the game.
FIFA becomes EA Sports FC
A strong name and yet after 30 years EA decides that it is over and done with FIFA. At least with the name. The game will continue and there will be a ‘2023’ version, which would normally be called FIFA 23. Instead, the game goes EA Sports FC to be named. A little less catchy, although you have to give it some time of course.
Goodbye
A special choice to say goodbye to the name FIFA. Although this has not been confirmed by EA, it appears that the name will have to be bought from, er, FIFA. This would be too expensive. The money saved by coming up with a name yourself would make the game better, or so you hope. As mentioned, the game will not change much: EA will still have access to major sponsors, cup titles and players. So you just have to get used to the fact that it won’t be a game of FIFA anymore. But a game of Sports FC. Like I said, it still needs to be a bit catchy.
