RT France/Sputnik: how to thwart censorship in a few clicks with a VPN?
“Europe is peace”, “Europe is freedom”. This is what we have been told for years and yet we see that there are civilians bombed less than 3 hours from Paris and that the European Union has just censored two media, including RT (Russia Today) France . The latter, which has never hidden the fact that it is subsidized by Russia, is nevertheless very well established with more than 2 million subscribers on YouTube and 176 French journalists who are now unemployed. This “dissident” TV, however, disappeared overnight on the sole decision of the European Commission chaired by Usula von der Leyen.
Only people you never voted for. Democracy is beautiful.

A VPN to find journalistic plurality
Attention, it is not a question here of giving a blank check to these two media, but what about plurality and the sacrosanct “freedom of expression”? What if one day it was Cnews, Canal+ or any other channel that was hit by censorship? Prohibited from broadcasting in the European Union, the RT France and Sputnik channels nevertheless continue to offer programs on YouTube, but it will be necessary to go through a VPN and an IP outside the EU. We will explain how to do with one of the cheapest VPNs at the moment, CyberGhost, which offers an offer at 1.99€/month. But the principle is the same for all the others for which you will find a comparative ranking here.
Change your IP to regain freedom!
1/ Struck by censorship!
When you connect to the YouTube channel of RT France or of Sputnik France, we are entitled to a simple message that says the content is not available in your country. Channels with 1.16 million and 220,000 subscribers disappeared with the snap of their fingers on Wednesday, March 2. RT France has even seen its ARCOM broadcasting license revoked: no more TV via Internet box or satellite broadcasting.
2/ An Algerian IP?
With a VPN, all you need to do is find a country that doesn’t ban channels. Not easy, because if censorship concerns the EU, Switzerland, Norway and even the United Kingdom have banned these channels. No doubt out of solidarity… You will have to take an Algerian or Russian IP to access the channel. These are the closest countries in terms of distance.
3/ Find RT France and Sputnik France
You will then be able to see the old videos, a kind of live broadcast which rebroadcasts old reports and even new videos in French which continue to be broadcast at a regular rate for the moment.
