Ford lets you print your own parts
You can complete your car yourself, but with parts that Ford supplies for you. You just have to print them yourself!
Saving costs can be done in many ways. Ford had to cut costs in many ways when designing the Maverick. This all-new pickup truck is the champion of the American Ford lineup and starts at just $19,995. Not much for a pickup truck, but as said: you don’t achieve that easily. For example, one of the savings is something as simple as the lack of cup holders in the back. Worth living, right?

In addition, you can still receive that cup holder for extra costs. This works via the FITS system. That stands for Ford Integrated Tether System† In the Maverick you will find a certain type of anchor point in different places where you can attach something. What that is varies for what you want, as mentioned you can, for example, make sure that you create two cup holders in the back.
Ford has also concealed a pair of FITS anchor points in storage compartments. For example, as below, you can process a paper or trash can in the car. If you still need the extra space, then no paper tray for a while. Freedom and happiness.
Print Ford parts yourself
But it gets even more fun than some accessories you can get in and out of your Maverick. Ford also has a few accessories – such as this paper tray and the cup holder – that they do not sell separately. What they do do is make the CAD data public. Which means Ford designs the parts and you have to print them. Handy if you happen to have a 3D printer, because that will probably save you a little money. Especially if you can 3D print through your work, for example.
Make up something fun
Ford therefore supplies the parts for you ready-made or for printing yourself. But the printed parts are more of an example of what the FITS system can do.
