Insider predicts more big deals
There have been massive takeovers in the video game industry in recent months, most recently Microsoft and Sony making headlines with their purchases of Activision Blizzard and Bungie. Insider Geoff Keighley is now revealing that there are more big deals to come.
More big studio takeovers are to follow
The recent trend in the video game industry has been massive acquisitions, and some of them have come as a complete surprise. However, these takeovers can change the industry forever.
However, the whole thing will continue to degenerate, at least that’s what video game journalist, insider and presenter Geoff Keighley says. On Twitter he reveals that other large contracts are already being discussed and that negotiations are already in the final phase. Given that Geoff Keighley is an old hand in the industry, it’s safe to assume there’s some truth to the information.
However, he has not yet revealed which studios this will affect. In the comments, fans speculate and throw names like Square Enix, Capcom, Nintendo and Konami in the room.
“I’ve heard from several people: As you might have guessed, some other major video game deals are in the final stages of negotiation. It will be an interesting year!”

Gamers’ opinions are mixed
It was foreseeable, but the reactions of the gamers are very different and one or the other theory for the big offensive there actually is.
“I think Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are working together to stop companies like Apple, Google, Amazon and maybe Tencent. They’re trying to create a common monopoly,” Twitter user Hammz said.
“Since Microsoft plans to create a new Monster Hunter-style brand, I bet Sony bought Capcom. Phil Spencer already knows,” commented Twitter user The Equalizer.
“There’s going to come a point where gamers in the generations to come will definitely need to own both a PS and an Xbox,” thinks Twitter user Michael Lafferty.
“Great. Can you all stop cheering this crap? This isn’t an exciting movie crossover event, it’s about corporations consolidating power and narrowing choices. At least I can see that nobody is really against corporate supremacy as long as their team ‘wins’. Disgusting,” says Reason_Eddie.
It remains to be seen how the whole thing will develop. We’ll keep you up to date.
