The richest man in the world seems determined to take on the most powerful. And that produces fireworks anyway. Tesla CEO Elon Musk called President Joe Biden on Twitter last week “a moist sock puppet in human form.” This was reflected in an 11% drop in Tesla shares. The internet was talking about it all weekend.

Twitter is Musk’s favorite outlet. This time he also used this medium to express his opinion. This time it’s about the corona measures in America and Canada. He has spent several posts on this. An earlier Musk tweet – “Biden is treating the American public like fools” – was part of a one-sided Twitter offensive against the president. Biden did not retaliate, at least not directly. The White House did post a tweet in which the president praised Tesla rivals General Motors and Ford for their work on developing electric vehicles.
Musk praised protests by Canadian truck drivers against a US mandate requiring them to show a vaccination certificate to enter the country. “This is not the behavior of a normal, rational CEO,” said John Coffee, a professor at Columbia University Law School.

“But we already knew that Musk was not, even though he is very successful. Even if he’s right in projecting Biden’s eventual failure, he and his companies can endure an awful lot of pain in the meantime. And it will not imply retaliation from Biden, as the SEC and other agencies now consider him a sworn enemy,” the professor said. The president has a lot of power over Musk. Tesla and the entrepreneur’s other businesses are subject to regulation. But whether Musk really wakes up from that…
