Ubisoft’s Warzone competitor says goodbye after just two years
Hyper Scape fans knew the day would come sooner or later. Apparently earlier, because as Ubisoft is now announcing, the Battle Royale shooter will be discontinued in a few months.

Hyper Scape offline soon
It was Ubisoft’s answer to other big game companies’ battle royale shooters. But while games like Call of Duty: Warzone continue to serve a large number of players with new content, Hyper Scape ran out of steam shortly after publication. The free-to-play game received its last update in April 2021 and has been languishing since then.
Now Ubisoft is making short work of it and stating that in a blog post shut down the servers earlier this year on April 28th will. Specifically it says:
“We have made the difficult decision to end development on Hyper Scape and to retire the game effective April 28th. We set out to create a vertical, fast-paced, melee shooter experience, and we’re so grateful to our community for joining us on our journey. We will incorporate key learnings from this game into future products.”
In another paragraph, the developer thanks all players for their passion and commitment. (Source: Ubisoft)
Unfortunately only a small consolation for fans of the shooter. Ubisoft is already killing the next game after the game developer recently announced the discontinuation of multiplayer support for Watch Dogs: Legion – and that after less than a year and a half.
No players, no spectators
With Hyper Scape, Ubisoft placed particular value on vertical gameplay and a special twitch component. Because viewers can significantly influence matches by voting on certain game world modifications, such as changing gravity or revealing enemies on the minimap.
It doesn’t all sound bad on paper. However, the shooter lacks an active player community and enough Twitch viewers to vote. (Source: Twtich Metrics)
Perhaps this sad news will lead to one last surge in player and viewership before Hyper Scape finally shuts down.
