Double folding laptop? We want this Samsung patent on the market

At a time when the world is already very successfully conquering mobile phones with flexible screens, it is logical to ask where design development will move on. Of course, this question is already resonating very strongly here on the web, especially in reports about various (more or less crazy) patents. This is no exception. Following registered idea comes from Samsung, which is the undisputed leader in flexible phones. But this time the “in game” is a very interesting laptop, which is simultaneously folding and… folding.

The LetsGoDigital server managed to snatch out and visualize the drawings, which the Korean company submitted to WIPO last July, a little more engagingly, after which the office confirmed them on January 13 this year. A total of 47-page documentation describes the notebook in words and pictures, which, after layout it doesn’t look extra strange at first glance. However, its physical keyboard and widescreen display can still be folded in half after the classic “click”.

As can be seen from the pictures, a normally closed laptop would still fold around the display, under which there would be a secondary hinge. You can think of it as boards for many board games that also use two bends. Paradoxically, folding the display itself seems to be the smallest problem, as the bending point would obviously have a very large radius, so the screen would suffer much less than, for example, mobile phones.

However, the reliable composition and layout of the keyboard should have several fuses that also ensure comfortable use. In addition to a few magnets, Samsung, for example, also counts on a “hook”, which, when inserted, firmly closes the two parts of the keyboard together, so that the notebook does not start folding on its own. The crumb on the cake is three buttons that should appear under the hinge after the device is folded. Their job is to control the music player. A great idea for me, which I can imagine as a real product. I might throw another display on the outside.
