Unfortunately, the end of the corona crisis is not yet in sight. Do you want to do something fun with friends despite sitting at home a lot? With Teleparty you can organize a movie night without anyone having to leave their home. That is how it works.

Teleparty works for everyone

Watching old-fashioned TV with friends is now also possible digitally. There are multiple ways to do this, including Apple’s own SharePlay. However, this only works with iOS 15.1 or later. For Macs, the feature will be available with the arrival of MacOS Monterey 12.1. Do you have friends who use Windows laptops or Android phones? Then it stops. Fortunately, there is a tool that is available to anyone with any laptop.

Teleparty (formerly Netflix Party) adds a chat screen while streaming. It is currently only a Chrome extension, so if you have a MacBook it is important that you download Google Chrome first. Via Teleparty you can watch movies on Netflix and Disney Plus with your friends (abroad also on Hulu and HBO).

How to use Teleparty

1. Open Google Chrome and download Teleparty;
2. Start a movie in your Chrome browser and choose the movie or series you want to watch;
3. Click on the POI icon at the top right to start a party;
4. Copy the link and share it with your friends so that they end up in the same chat screen.

It is important that everyone has downloaded the Chrome extension. In the chat, you and your friends can talk about the movie – or anything and everything. In addition, the film or series synchronizes automatically, so that it plays for everyone at the same time. So if someone pauses or rewinds the movie or series, it happens to everyone. This way you can be sure that you are all at the same part of the film at the same time. You can also choose that only one person has control over the playback of the film or series.
