Google Maps has reached a milestone of 10 billion installations
Google Maps has been with us since the very beginning of the Android operating system. We all know and use them, because after all there is probably no more universal application for navigation. The report was brought by the Android Police portal.
Google Maps already has over 10 billion downloads in the Play Store
They are thus the third Google application, but also the third application in general, which managed to reach such a milestone. The first was Google Play Services in July last year, followed by YouTube in July this year. Google Maps has only succeeded now, in early November.
Interestingly, Google Maps has crossed the milestone of 5 billion downloads less than three years ago (March 2019). Thus, in two and a half years, they doubled the number of downloads. It’s unbelievable, given that it took them about 9 years to reach the first half of the current milestone.
However, all three of the above applications belong to Google and are the most commonly pre-installed applications on mobile phones (along with Gmail, the Google app, and Google Photos). The mentioned applications may be others that will reach this milestone.
In the end, we just wish Google Maps a lot of nice updates and even more downloads.
