Samsung Galaxy S20 and S21 receive November security update
As has been the case in recent months, Samsung is again early with the rollout of the new security update. Google will make this patch available next Monday, but the South Korean giant is again faster. The November 2021 security update is currently rolling out for several Galaxy smartphones, including the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 series.
Update 01/11/2021: Samsung is now also rolling out the November security update for the Galaxy S20. We have updated and republished this article.
Samsung Galaxy S20 and S21 update
The Galaxy S21 series gets a new update of 227.49 MB in size and it contains firmware version G99xBXXS3AUJ7. Of course, the update includes the November 2021 security patch, but we don’t yet know which and how many privacy and security vulnerabilities it will fix. Next month we will find out more about this via the security bulletin. The update may also include general bug fixes and phone stability improvements, but no new features.
Samsung is already extensively testing Android 12 for the Galaxy S21 series. We hope that Samsung will roll out this new Android version for the S21 series around Christmas and New Years, just like in previous years.
Download update
The new firmware update has not yet reached the Netherlands and Belgium, but that will not take long. The update will be rolled out over-the-air to the Galaxy S21 series and once it’s in, you’ll see a notification in the notification bar. You can also manually search for the update: Settings > Software update > Download and install.
