This is what the Facebook smartwatch with selfie camera will look like

Meta – the company formerly known as Facebook – is rumored to be developing a smartwatch that can take photos and videos. Bloomberg got their hands on an image of this smartwatch.

Facebook’s Meta smartwatch

It is again app developer Steve Moser who found the image in the app that belongs to Facebook’s augmented reality glasses. The fact that the image can be found in this app could indicate the possibility to control the smartwatch with the smart Ray Ban glasses in the future.

In this image we see a smartwatch with rounded corners, similar to the Apple Watch. Only this variant has a notch at the bottom with a camera incorporated, intended for video calling. That corresponds to previous rumors, which also spoke of a detachable screen. Once you remove that detachable screen, there’s another camera lens on the back that shoots Full HD videos and has autofocus. You can take pictures without having your phone with you. You can then share the photos later via Facebook’s social media apps.

In addition to rounded corners and a camera, the smartwatch seems to have a stainless steel housing and interchangeable straps. Moser also says that the code in the app indicates that the watch could be called Milan and that the photos and videos you’ve taken with it can be downloaded to a phone. The smartwatch would also work with a modified version of Android, and have 4G and a heart rate monitor.

Launch smartwatch

According to Bloomberg, the smartwatch will be launched as early as 2022, but there is no confirmation from Meta yet. Facebook’s parent company is also reportedly working on a second and third generation of the smartwatch. It is unknown if the device in the picture is one of them.
