Android Auto’s Easter Egg won’t let you down

Want to enjoy an Easter Egg in the car? You can because in Android Auto there is a hidden Easter Egg waiting for you to be revealed.

Every Android version traditionally comes with an Easter Egg. For example, Lollipop had the ‘fake version’ of Flappy Bird, Android 9.0 Pie had a large letter P with all kinds of colored lines and Android 10 came with a hidden puzzle game. In Android 11, cats took center stage, and Android 12’s Easter Egg is entirely Material You style. However, it does not stop at the operating system for smartphones, because one has now also been discovered in Android Auto.

To get Rick Astley in your car, you first need version 7.0 of Android Auto and developer mode must be activated.

  1. Launch the Android Auto app
  2. In the settings of the app, tap the version 10 times
  3. Tap the window Allow development settings on OK
  4. Tap on the three dots at the top right Developer Settings
  5. Tap on Application mode and select here Developer

Then start the Google infotainment system in your car and tap the icon All car apps and then double tap UX Prototype. Now run to your car for a real Rickroll!
