we’d rather buy a regular smartphone than a foldable one
If money was no object, most AndroidWorld readers would still opt for a regular smartphone. After the review here on Androidworld of the foldable Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, we asked in our poll whether you would go foldable.
Ordinary smartphones popular
Most foldable telephones are more expensive than their ‘regular’ colleagues, so that people often continue to opt for regular telephones. At least we thought so, because your answers to this week’s question show that many people with all the money in the world would still opt for a regular phone.
That does not apply to everyone: 52 percent would opt for another regular smartphone, while no less than 26 percent would actually go for the Samsung Z Fold 3. In short: a fairly popular device, were it not for the fact that with its suggested retail price of 1799 euros, it is currently still a bridge too far for many people.
Flip 3 can also count on a following, because 15 percent of the readers think that this is a good choice, if money is no object. The first difference between the two smartphones that stands out is the fold: Fold folds like a book and Flip folds like a shell or a make-up box. Only 2 percent would go for another foldable phone and 3 percent have no idea.
The reactions
in any case, loekklein says he’s going for the Fold. “I think it’s getting a bit out of hand with the new innovations, the fold is the new generation. Although for the first time I am very curious about the Pixel.” B@Zzz… does not agree with that, he does not see the advantage of it now. “Just give me a ‘normal’ one. But who knows, I might think differently next year. After all, it was once “nonsense” to be always reachable. ;)” One that headlines tucker beautifully: “It still is. ”
Whether for now (or for the future, B@Zzz… 😉 ), if you want to know more about the new foldable phones from Samsung, read the review of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. Rather an oyster-like experience? Then we also have the review of Samsung Z Flip 3 for you. And good news: we expect foldable phones to become more affordable in the coming years.
Who knows what the answers to this poll will look like in a few years. Although, maybe by then we’ll be using smartphones with translucent screens or rollable ones.
