Netflix is rolling out a genius feature
The streaming service Netflix continues to innovate and is rolling out a genius feature.
We’re watching something on Netflix. The streaming service continues to grow unabated. Even if the growth is slowing down a bit. The service is also not sitting still, it continues to test and innovate their platforms. Now back to the app. There, Netflix introduces a feature that is so simple, it’s genius.
Netflix rolls out feature
An app just has to work well. It’s a tool. With Instagram you should immediately see the content of the people you follow. With Uber, the taxi has to find you. Crucial to a successful app is that it does what it was made for. Otherwise people will quickly give up.
In addition to this basis, there are also other design levels. One of the best is the feature you never thought of, but it’s so good you’ll be surprised why you never came up with it yourself. Several users of the Netflix app found out about such a feature.
Netflix did. Develop a feature that is simple, but isn’t there yet. It’s about when you get the app used on your smartphone and turn the volume down, so that subtitles will automatically appear. It works like this:
Let’s be honest, isn’t this useful? But unfortunately, Netflix hasn’t made this available to everyone yet. Sometimes it worked for users on previews, but not on regular videos. The tweet is therefore based on existing technology. But Netflix hasn’t rolled it out for everyone (yet). The company is believed to be testing the feature. Or is it for some other reason…
It turns out that Netflix is now explicitly using this feature to better advertise. Many people turn off the sound with advertisements. They can’t skip the ad, so don’t listen to it. And then the subtitles come on.
