Genshin Impact: Solve Washizu Quest (Outsider Shrine)

You may have encountered Washizu on your adventures in the Inazuma region of Genshin Impact. This samurai sits next to the outsider shrine near the snake head and asks you to pray. How you can unlock his secret quest “Sinister Instructions” and find his property, we show you in our walkthrough.

Find Washizu and pray at the Outsider Shrine

On the island of Yashiori in the Inazuma region you can directly south of the serpent’s head on the plateau find the outsider shrine, next to which the samurai Washizu sits. If you speak to him, he will ask you to pray 3 times at the shrine during the conversation.

So pray 3 times at the outsider shrine to his left. The prayer is confirmed to you every time by an electric particle, which then appears. Then speak to Washizu again, who tells you that those who pray will be rewarded and that you should come back tomorrow. So you have to wait one server day until the next reset before the quest continues.

A notice: Make sure you talk to Washizu over and over again before and after each prayer at the Outsider Shrine. This is important so that you can unlock the next steps of the quest in the next few days and not have to wait unnecessarily more days.

After server reset: Pray a second time at the shrine

Return to the shrine the next day. Instead of the three glowing electrical particles, you can now loot a pretty chest. Then talk to Washizu and then pray again 3 times at the outsider shrine until the three electrical particles reappear.

Then talk to Washizu again, who promises you another reward the next day. So you have to wait for the next server reset again.

After server reset: Pray a third time at the shrine

The next day you will find a nice chest as a reward and you can pray again 3 times at the outsider shrine until the electrical particles appear. Finally, talk to Washizu again, whose condition is becoming increasingly unstable. You have to wait one last time for the next server reset.

After a server reset: Unlock the hidden quest “Sinister Instructions”

The next day you can again loot a nice chest at the shrine and talk to Washizu. Then pray again 3 times at the shrine. However, Washizu will now interrupt and attack you at the 3rd prayer. With pyro and cryo attacks you can defeat him very quickly.

After the victory land now “Torn Records” and a “Damaged Note” in your inventory and also will unlocked the hidden world mission “Sinister Instructions” in the quest log. You should now find Washizu’s property in Higi Village. The rough target area will be marked on the map for you.

Find Washizu’s possessions and unlock “An Empty Soul”

Go to the mission marker by the village of Higi. There are two unlit fire pits near the rocks on the edge of the village. Between these you can now “dig” and bring out a nice chest with the belongings of Washizu.

By opening the chest, the world mission is successfully completed and you also receive the hidden achievement “An Empty Soul”.
