Xiaomi Oclean X Pro Elite review great brush

We have tested several sonic brushes on the Android World website in recent years. In this article, we will take a closer look at the Xiaomi Oclean X Pro Elite brush, the highest line offered by the Chinese manufacturer. Like the cheaper predecessors, you may also notice a color display that sets up and displays information about brushing your teeth. Is it worth buying a smart brush? You will find out in our review.

The toothbrush comes in a gray box, which is divided into two parts. In the left part is located the toothbrush itself, on which the head is already attached. The second part is a manual, a wireless charger and a holder that holds a brush with a magnet. The round holder can be glued with a 3M sticker, for example, to a cabinet, mirror or tile. Unlike the older Xiaomi Mi Sonic brush, for example, it is not recommended to leave the brush on the charger at all times, so the holder is definitely suitable. The package does not include a travel case or mains adapter. However, the charger is terminated with a standard USB connector, so you can use, for example, an adapter from an old phone.

Wireless charging using the Qi standard

One of the novelties compared to the previous variant of Oclean X is Qi wireless charging support. You can use the included charger for charging, or your classic wireless charger, which you use to charge phones. Just put the toothbrush down and it will start charging immediately. And you can also charge with headphones or a phone, for example, using the included charger. All you have to do is remove the silicone attachment, which helps to better hold the brush. It was a surprise relatively large charger heatingwhich was much higher than normal wireless chargers.

Whether you use the included charger or your own Qi, in neither case it is not exactly the fastest charging. The battery with a capacity of 800 mAh is charged from zero to 100 percent in about three and a half hours. However, the endurance itself is exemplary. According to the manufacturer, it is up to 35 days. However, we have not tested the toothbrush for so long, so we cannot confirm or refute these values. However, if the endurance is different, we will return to it over time and add new information to the review.

Processing and design of the Xiaomi brush

Simply put, it is sonic brush, into which the Xiaomi Mi Band was implemented. The processing itself is very high quality, the brush is made of hard plastic and is completely coated with a material imitating stone. This guarantees that it holds better in the hand than if it were a glossy plastic and also this one the material resists water relatively well. The brush meets IPX7 certification, but the wireless charger itself does not. On the other hand, it can withstand some water thanks to the silicone cover, but we would definitely not expose it to more water. The weight of 110 grams is common among brushes.

It is in the package one Dupont Diamond head, which has a new area for cleaning the tongue. It is one of the novelties compared to the previous variants. Unfortunately, the availability of replacement heads is currently relatively bad. On the Czech market, you can buy replacement heads for the Oclean X Pro model, which are compatible, but you will not have a special surface for cleaning the tongue. If you would like a straight head for the Oclean X Pro Elite, so be it you have to look around the Chinese e-shops, or order directly on the manufacturer’s website.

Is the touch screen unnecessary?

Even before trying out the Xiaomi Oclean X Pro Elite, I was one of the skeptics who took the touch screen on a toothbrush as useless. After testing, however, I have to say that it is suitable, although I would not say that it is a necessary function, which I would not do without. First of all you can through the touch screen to set a variety of things. From various cleaning modes, through length, to cleaning power. The setting options in the mobile application are still larger, but you can adjust many more things directly in the brush compared to the previous generation. The display can also be used directly for cleaning when the display shows the time as well as the part of the teeth that you should clean according to the selected program. In reality, however, you almost do not see the display during cleaning and you pay maximum attention to some information in peripheral vision. In reality, however, you will still be able to orient yourself by suspending the vibrations, which means that you have to move to the next part of the teeth.

However, I see the main advantage of the display in the summary that appears when you finish brushing your teeth. This is a function that was already with the first smart brushes, when you could see in the mobile application how you are doing with cleaning, on which side you should press, where to remove, etc. But the need to use a mobile phone and the application as a result meant that you would forget about a check over time and stop using a relatively useful feature. However, as soon as this information appears immediately on the brush display, everything changes and in addition, it is offered that you can correct any cleaning errors immediately.

Brushing teeth with the Xiaomi Oclean X Pro Elite sonic brush

From today’s point of view, I switched to the obsolete Xiaomi Mi Sonic model, which has “only” 31,000 oscillations per minute. Xiaomi Oclean X Pro Elite offers up to 42,000 oscillations per minute, which ranks it among the best sonic brushes on the market. The difference in the quality of cleaning is emotionally completely identical and there is no difference between the two brushes. Whether you’re trying to run your tongue over your teeth or looking at your teeth in a mirror. It is possible that, for example, laboratory tests would reveal that the novelty cleans teeth much better. Under normal conditions, however, the difference is very difficult to tell.

However, where you immediately notice the differences is the volume of the brush itself. Xiaomi Oclean X Pro Elite is a very quiet sonic brush. While with Mi Sonic it often happened that you disturb the surroundings by cleaning, the volume here is less than 45db and the surroundings do not know at all that you are brushing your teeth. Another useful thing is that the toothbrush monitors how much you press on your teeth and adjusts the cleaning force accordingly, or alerts you directly if you push too hard on your teeth.

Oclean will please but not inspire

In the past, the Oclean app has been quite criticized, which we can still see in the low ratings in the Google Play store, as well as the AppStore on iOS. In 2021, the design still looks the same, but the company has incorporated a problems with connecting and transferring settings to the brush are gone. We didn’t encounter any problems on Android or iOS, the connection to the brush worked on the first try and even the update of the brush firmware worked without problems. The application offers greater setting options as well as a better overview of cleaning, including a detailed history. The connection is via Bluetooth 5.0. For some, the downside may be that the app and, moreover, the brush system are in English only.
