The NCZI vaccination application system has been compromised
Last night (8.3.) From 19:45, the login portal for vaccination experienced an hour-long DDoS attack, the NCZI informed on its Facebook page. This attack caused a serious slowdown of the registration process and the almost unusability of the site.
The NCZI has not said much about the attack yet
The National Center for Health Information (NCZI) was very modest in terms of damage. It is also not yet known who caused the attack or whether it is already being investigated by the police.
The vaccination order system faced a DDOS attack for almost an hour yesterday at 19:45. This caused the government cloud line, which contains all medical data, to have a high error rate and the data entered by users was not transmitted correctly. So the slowdown in the system was not on the side of the National Health Information Center. “
A DDoS attack is a type of attack in which attackers send a large number of requests over a connection to overload the site. The result is the above-mentioned extreme slowdown in loading and problems with the availability of a connection to the page. In this case, this concerned in particular the vaccination application form.
We do not have more information about the attack yet. We have already contacted the National Center for Health Information and are waiting for their opinion.
Attack or just problems with old hardware?
IT expert Peter Mihálik, who is a member of the Supervisory Board of the National Agency for Network and Electronic Services (NASES), questions NCZI’s claim. He claims that they came up with an excuse about a DDoS attack, and that if that were the case, it would be enough to ask for data about the incident from that time and find out if it was an attack.
“But the reality is that this whole horse runs on a 10-year-old HP DL380 gen6 with apache + prefork + mod_php.
For non-Ickars, it’s something like you want to win a Paris-Dakar with a 10+ year old serial fabia. Or as if an overweight 70-year-old wants to run a marathon in 2:30 minutes, ”writes Peter Mihálik on his Facebook page. This status was pointed out by Živé.
He also criticizes the former government, which neglected the state’s IT infrastructure.
After all, the fact that the login system is slow is confirmed to us by yourself below in the comments. We thank you.
