Instagram hopes that users will use Live Rooms for all kinds of creative applications such as talk shows, interviews, conversations and music. The idea is that followers can participate in the live stream. That way, celebrities can, for example, talk to a few fans.
Live Rooms is Instagram’s answer to Clubhouse. This social media app has been on the rise in recent weeks and allows people to talk to each other via audio. Clubhouse is all about audio, while Live Rooms also have images.
Instagram tries to make its Clubhouse alternative attractive to creators by helping them make money. For example, viewers of live streams can buy badges to show support for the creator.
Tech world is looking at Clubhouse
Clubhouse has been around since 2020, but has been on the rise, especially in recent weeks. The success of the new audio app has not gone unnoticed, as Instagram parent company Facebook is reportedly working on its own version of Clubhouse. Twitter is also trying out something similar with Spaces.
