Android

for all Galaxy from 2019

Last year it was announced that various Samsung model lines could now count on updates for three years. Samsung has now prepared new changes. Four years of security updates, that is the new promise of the Korean manufacturer.

Samsung with even better update policy

If there is one brand to be mentioned where many manufacturers can take an example in the field of update policy, it was Samsung. We can now only confirm that even more. The manufacturer announced today that it will again be making major changes to the update policy. It’s big news, and we can cautiously call it a breakthrough for Android. Where previously the more expensive devices were already certain of three years of updates, something will now change for many more devices.

All Galaxy devices from 2019 and newer can count on at least four years of security updates. Not only smartphones, but also tablets. This also concerns the cheap smartphones such as the Galaxy A series with the A10, A20 and A12. Depending on the model, updates are distributed monthly or quarterly. Previously, the devices could count on three years of security updates, although we saw in the past that many of the, especially more expensive, devices were also updated after that time.

It doesn’t mean you will also get Android updates for four years. For the high-end smartphones it is clear that you will receive Android updates for three years, which is also a good promise. Many manufacturers stopped rolling out updates much earlier. Consider, for example, LG and Motorola, which have a not very good reputation in the field of updates. Google will provide Pixel updates for a three-year period. Android One, which is mainly used by Nokia, will receive three years of security updates and two years of Android OS updates.
